The first Smokefree Areas within Launceston’s CBD were implemented on 1 January 2012. At the time of resolving to implement Smokefree Areas within the Launceston CBD, the City of Launceston made a commitment to review the expansion of the Smokefree Areas after a number of years.

We are reviewing our Smokefree zones as part of our Smokefree Policy and are proposing to expand the Smokefree Areas within the CBD as follows:

  1. Brisbane Court
  2. Centre Way Lane
  3. Part of Dicky White's Lane
  4. Ingles Lane

This proposed expansion attempts to provide a more seamless connection between the current Smokefree Areas and tries to link in with a few lanes that have been observed to be problematic spots since the current ban was implemented.

You are invited to have your say. Please tell us what you believe: should there be smoke free areas within Launceston's CBD? Do you support the proposed expansion to the current smoke free areas? You can have your say by:

  1. Completing the Survey Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see the areas highlighted on a map.
  2. Writing to Environmental Services, City of Launceston, Town Hall, St John Street, Launceston 7250, or
  3. Emailing us at council@launceston.tas.gov.au - Attention: Environmental Services
