We seek your feedback on our draft Play Spaces Strategy
In October 2012 the Launceston City Council invited the community to have a say on the future of play spaces in Launceston. We asked you to tell us your thoughts and ideas on current play spaces to help us shape our draft Play Spaces Strategy.
Thank you for your feedback. We've noted your key messages, listed other issues raised during the consultation as well as additional issues raised by Launceston City Council staff.
From this feedback we have developed a draft strategy and again, we are asking for your feedback. We say what we mean by play and have included in the library a list all council parks and play areas with an analysis of each and recommendations for the future. Please read the one page introduction to this consultation and take this opportunity to review the documents and provide comment.
We invite you to provide feedback on the strategy.
If you would like to download full versions of the draft Strategy, the Locality Analysis and Design Guidelines, you will find them in the library.

The Strategy is a long term vision on improving play provision in the City of Launceston. Play spaces represent a major investment by Launceston City Council and must be carefully managed to ensure they meet the needs of the community and offer the best value for available resources both now and in the future.
With our goal to create more diverse higher quality play spaces in larger hubs, if a park didn't have a swing and a slide, what type of play would you put there? Would you like to see an open area? Or, maybe a community garden?
If you have any other ideas, we would love to hear them.
This is a great opportunity for you to have your say in the development of the Play Space Stragegy. We would love to hear your thoughts on whether or not you think these guidelines and principles will improve play opportunities in our City. We would also love to hear why!
The play spaces in Launceston have all been listed, a map of all areas has been provided and an analysis of each suburb conducted from recent equipment audits, photos, information from Council's strategic documents, comments made by the community and in some cases site inspections.
Have we captured the key play space issues in your area? What are your thoughts on the recommendations and priorities listed? Refer to the locality analysis - suburbs are listed in alphabetical order - and have your say!
