Help compile an album to present to Ricky in recognition of his status as a world champion cricketer and ambassador for northern Tasmania.
The announcement of Ricky Ponting's test retirement brings to an end the career of one of Launceston's great exports.
Very few have lifted the profile of northern Tasmania on the national and international stage than Ricky Ponting.
He's Australia's greatest run-scorer, and after 168 tests, Ricky has been a wonderful ambassador for our city and our region.
In due course the Council will seek to appropriately and officially recognise his achievement.
In a few words we would love to hear your favourite memories and moments of Ricky's career. The Council intends to compile an album to present to Ricky in recognition of his status as a world champion cricketer and ambassador for northern Tasmania.
Add your tribute to Ricky and favourite memories to the Guest Book.

It has been my great pleasure over the years to watch you mature and show the world, that being a Tasmanian is certainly not a deterrent to one who sets his mind to become a leader in his State and Country, but a distinct benefit. Well done Ricky! Alan Leighton, Launceston. 13 March 2013

the fact that, through cricket, you turned your life around. You were a pretty feral kid but look at you now! That is what makes me think you are such a great ambassador for young people in general.

Sad to see you go Punter! I remember watching you play in Launceston as a young lad and even then I thought you'd go far. Congratulations on your fabulous achievements!
