The Council has developed the Launceston Tourism Strategic Plan with support from Tourism Tasmania and in consultation with industry and stakeholders. The purpose of the Plan is to provide clear direction for Launceston City Council, its stakeholders and industry regarding the long term development of tourism including sustainable destination planning and management, development and marketing.

The purpose of the Plan is to provide clear direction for Launceston City Council, its stakeholders and industry regarding the long term development of tourism including sustainable destination planning and management, development and marketing.
The Stafford Group was commissioned to develop the long term tourism strategy for the Council, setting the strategic direction for tourism for the region and clearly outlining Launceston City Council's role in the industry.
The draft plan outlines Launceston's tourism vision to be recognised as a significant tourism destination in Tasmania through supporting the wider Northern Tasmania region, building on its strengths as a boutique heritage city and offering a wide range of sporting, cultural, art and heritage events throughout the year.
